Hi everyone, I'm Marlen, the mom of two sweet little girls, ages 8 and 10. I’ve also been a music therapist for over 15 years, working with thousands of children in hospitals and schools to help them feel safe, calm, and supported through music and connection. But everything changed when I became a mom myself.
As much as I thought I understood kids, I quickly realized I was in no way a parenting expert, and having my own reminded me that every child is entirely unique— what worked for my oldest didn't work for the youngest. My youngest always had a particularly hard time separating from me at bedtime. I kept thinking she’d grow out of it, but when she didn't, our doctor suggested something I’d never even considered: sleep podcasts or sleepy stories for kids.
We were practicing all the healthy sleep recommendations, but nothing worked for her. In our home, we’ve always prioritized calm, screen-free evenings—no iPads after 6 p.m., just a consistent, structured routine and time to wind down. So I was hesitant, even resistant, to trying a sleep podcast and having any kind of technology in the room at bedtime.
But I was amazed by how much they helped even the first night using them. Hearing a calm, loving voice soothed her, even when I couldn’t be right next to her. That’s when it hit me— I could do this myself for her. I could record bedtime stories, music, and relaxation exercises… I've done it for years for other kids in hospitals, and this way, she could still fall asleep to my voice, feeling comforted and connected.
As I began creating The Sleepy Wolf, the rest of the family got excited and wanted to help! So now, each member of the family voices their own characters whenever they feel like it—no pressure, just fun. It’s become a family project built around love, healthy sleep, and creativity. And now, we’re sharing it with you and your little ones.
